2016 Drone World Championship: Prepare for great FPV racing
Get ready for a major international FPV drone racing event in October 2016.
In the above video, KITV4 Hawaii news reported on top drone racers from around who were in Hawaii to scout locations for the 2016 World Drone Racing Championships. The location decided on is Kualoa Ranch. And now DroneWorlds, as it is called, has a date of October 17-22, 2016.
While still in its infancy, drone racing has seen strong growth and interest around the world in 2015 … and 2016 and beyond is sure to be exciting for racing events as the number of people flying drones accelerates. The number of consumer drones shipped globally is expected to be more than 16 million per year by 2020, up from less than 4 million this year (2015), according to a new study from Juniper Research. And what portion of those drones will be used for FPV racing?

The DroneWorlds event is produced by RotorSports, the same group responsible for the 2015 Fat Shark US National Drone Racing Championships at the California State Fair.
According to the DroneWorlds website, a total of $200K in cash, prizes and trophies across multiple categories on both physical and online racing courses will be awarded.
Also, pilots from over 30 countries from around the world will be competing on four, world-class courses, and six, separate racing events including 250 class, wing class, 1000 class, and EMS (emergency services)class, and Extreme Freestyle competitions.
Drone Worlds is officially sanctioned by the World Rotor Sports Association.
