FAA Boosts CNN’s Study of Drones for Newsgathering

Seeking to hasten the use of drones for newsgathering, the Federal Aviation Administration on Monday announced it has signed a research agreement with CNN to share data from the network’s ongoing study of the issue with the goal of creating a framework for future use of such unmanned aircraft for that purpose. The FAA has already been coordinating with a study that CNN announced last June with the Georgia Institute of Technology. By sharing data with the FAA, CNN hopes to advance efforts to make drones more of a standard component of reporting.
