First ever Drone Expo kicks off in Los Angeles

If Amazon has its way, your order might one day be delivered to your doorstep by a drone.  This was just one of the possible uses for the unmanned aerial vehicles being discussed as thousands gathered for the first ever commercial Drone Expo in Los Angeles on Saturday, December 13, 2014.

Long used by the military for surveillance and to carry out attacks, USAVSA (Unmanned Autonomous Vehicle Systems Association) said their objective in staging the event was to stoke interest in different uses for drones among the industry and enthusiasts.

Update March 2016:
The LA Drone Expo named was changed to the International Drone Expo (IDE) for the December 2015 event held at the Los Angeles Convention Center.  For 2016, the 3rd annual International Drone Expo (IDE) which has become the largest gathering of the global commercial drone community, will take place on December 9-10 again at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The event is organized by UAVSA (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Systems Association), The Tesla Foundation, and E.J. Krause & Associates.  From the IDE website, IDE draws over 125 international exhibitors and 4,500+ buyers from around the world.
